Central Kalahari and Okavango Delta Mobile Camping-Based Walking Safari 

 

Day 1: Arrival in Maun
 

Upon your arrival in Maun, you will be met by a hotel transfer agent, as well as a representative from Walk Botswana and transferred to your accommodation. Please note that dinner reservations need to be arranged on your own.

Accommodation: Maun Waterfront Guesthouse (or similar), Maun

Day 2: Transfer to Central Kalahari Game Reserve; Optional afternoon activities
 

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8am by a Walk Botswana representative and transferred to Kuki Fence (approximately 2 hours). From here, you will be met by a game drive vehicle and transferred to the Great Tsau Hill tented camp (approximately 1.5-2 hours), a remote and majestic setting within the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. This afternoon you will have time for optional excursions/activities offered by the camp. To cool off, you may take a dip in the pool area before enjoying sundowners. Tonight there will be an option to go on a night drive if you have the energy.

Day 3: Walking Safari to Private Mobile Tented Camp in Central Kalahari Game Reserve
 

This morning you will be met by your lead guide for and transfer to your mobile camp for the next four nights. Once you have settled into your private camp in the remote bush, you will embark on a walking safari alongside local bushmen tracking guides to explore the area.

Day 4: Walking Safari in Central Kalahari Game Reserve

We are led on remote and engaging walking expeditions early in the morning, with a return to camp for lunch and siesta. We then venture back out to the bush for a late afternoon walk as the animals once again become more active with the setting of the sun. There may also be options for bushman cultural activities such as foraging, wilderness survival, arts and crafts, and night drives. This is something you will determine with your guide the night before.

Day 5: Walking Safari in Central Kalahari Game Reserve

We are led on remote and engaging walking expeditions early in the morning, with a return to camp for lunch and siesta. We then venture back out to the bush for a late afternoon walk as the animals once again become more active with the setting of the sun. There may also be options for bushman cultural activities such as foraging, wilderness survival, arts and crafts, and night drives. This is something you will determine with your guide the night before.

Day 6: Transfer to Okavango Delta; Lodge-based Safari Excursions
 

Depending on the timing of your charter flight today, there may be time for a morning excursion either by foot or jeep. Then we will say goodbye to the Kalahari and your Walk Botswana Safari guide will transfer us by safari jeep back to the main road where we meet our vehicle and head to Maun. From there we will hop on a short (approximately 20-minute) charter flight into the southeastern portion of the Okavango Delta region. Your safari lodge will be at Mma Dinara, a beautiful tented-accommodation situated in the neighboring concession to the one in which we conduct walking safaris in the Okavango Delta. An afternoon game drive or water-based activity (depending on water levels) can be enjoyed for your afternoon at the lodge.

Kgalagadi Mobile Camping-Based Walking Safari

Day 7: Scenic helicopter flight to Mobile Camp; Afternoon Walking Excursion

Enjoy a morning activity at Mma Dinare before jumping on a helicopter for a scenic flight (a lovely addition which will enable us more time for an afternoon walk) to your next camp with Walk Botswana Safaris in the Nakakondo area of NG32 – our delta-based walking location. An afternoon walk can be enjoyed before returning to camp to enjoy the incredible scenery over sundowners.

Day 8: Walking Safari – Okavango Delta

We are led on remote and engaging walking expeditions early in the morning, with a return to camp for lunch and siesta. We then venture back out to the bush for a late afternoon walk as the animals once again become more active with the setting of the sun. Please note that in addition to our daily walking expeditions, there may be additional activities on offer such as a mekoro (traditional canoe) excursions (depending on water levels) and night drives (not every day though!).

Day 11: International Departures or Victoria Falls Trip Extension
 

Today we pack up camp early and transfer by road back to Maun (3 hours). From here we say goodbye to our Walk Botswana Safari team. You either will catch your international flights home (might be wise to spend an additional night in Maun - we can book your accommodations) or have the option for a post-tour extension to Victoria Falls. If you opt to visit Victoria Falls, you will transfer to a charter flight to Kasane, and then another charter flight from Kasane to Victoria Falls. From here we are transferred from the airport to your lodge in Victoria Falls (likely arriving sometime around mid-day).

*Please inquire for optional Victoria Falls extensions (at additional expense).

Day 1: Arrival in Gaborone; Transfer to Kgalagadi
Upon arrival of your international flight, you will be met at the airport by a Walk Botswana Safaris representative. Depening on your flight arrival time, you may spend a pre-tour night in Gaborone or transfer directly to your mobile camp in the Kgalagadi.

Activity: Today you will either transfer by road (7 hours with stops) to Hukuntsi or take a charter flight at an additional expense (see pricing details below). From Hukuntsi, you will be met by your Walk Botswana safaris team and transfer to your remote mobile camp by safari jeep.

Day 2: Full day walking exploration 
Evening Activity: Night game drive.

Day 3: Full day walking exploration with Bushmen-led walking and foraging
Evening Activity: Bushmen trance dance and evening campfire.
Accommodation: WBS Mobile Camp, Name Pan Kgalagadi

 

Day 4:  Full day walk - Copulation Hill (packed lunch)
Late Afternoon: Track down meerkats.
Evening Activity: Dinner on Name Pan Under the stars.
Accommodation: WBS Mobile Camp, Name Pan Kgalagadi


Day 5:  Walk Wilderness Trail to Peach Pan and Kai Pan.
Accommodation: WBS Mobile Camp, Kaa Pan Kgalagadi

 

Day 6: Morning walk - tracking lions.
Evening Activity: Late afternoon game drive into night drive.
Accommodation: WBS Mobile Camp, Kaa Pan Kgalagadi

 

Day 7: Full day walk to Small Kaa Pan (Bush Lunch)
Evening Activity: Dinner around the fire.
Accommodation: WBS Mobile Camp, Kaa Pan Kgalagadi

 

Day 8: Explore Kaa Pan, Tracking at Aardwolf Den
Afternoon Activity: Afternoon Drive to look for Cheetah.
Evening Activity: Dinner on Kaa Pan
Accommodation: WBS Mobile Camp, Kaa Pan Kgalagadi

 

Day 9: Transfer to Gaborone for flights home
Activity: This morning we pack up camp and transfer to Hutunski by safari jeep. From here you have the option to take a charter flight or transfer by road to Gaborone. If you transfer by road it will have to be an early morning to get you to the airport in time for your flights home.
